Queens Library has 52 locations open. We invite the whole community to come in, charge your cell phones and tablets, use our free wi-fi, keep your
children busy with children’s programs and materials, and pick up that do-it-yourself book, or some leisure reading to while away the no-cable TV time.Children’s storytimes will begin within a few days in shelters for families displaced by the storm. Staff are being trained in assisting patrons in applying for FEMA grants. FEMA will not be accepting paper applications. Libraries will dedicate computer terminals specifically for that purpose beginning next week. The library will also be looking for ways to support the educational structure, as schools will be disrupted and families uprooted across south Queens, which is likely to adversely affect academic performance.
